When you want something truly exquisite for yourself or to give as a gift, our recent installation of knives, wine openers and cheese slicers from Laguiole en Aubrac, one of the finest atelier blade and knifesmiths in France, should be your first stop. Typically created by a single artisan, the blades are encased in a variety of unique woods and bone are balanced for the hand and made to last for generations. We received 11 of these treasures after waiting patiently for months. An ebony wood knife sold the same day we put it out. If you think you want one or more, the suggestion would be to call or see us soon.
The village Laguiole is located in the heart of the Aubrac region in Southern France. Early in the 19th century pocket knives and a table knives were made here for shepherds and farmers in the Aubrac. Today, they are still made in the same place and tradition but with outstanding quality which has made the knife makers of Laguiole famous.
SO many "oohs" and "ahhs" when the limited edition Pelikan M1000 White Raden Ray arrived at Flax the other day. It is truly a stunning work and one of the most beautiful fountain pens we've seen. We only have one, but what a treasure!
Watch for Flax's new "Second Chance" page - where you can find gently used writing instruments for sale at attractive prices. We've checked them out but you're welcome to come into the store and inspect/test them. Second-chance pens are non-returnable but they are attractively priced. Check them out! We started the fun with a Faber-Castell smoked wood Ondoro fountain pen at just $80.00 and have beauties including the Aurora Talentum Classic as well.
If you're wondering what we're up to, the answer is "working hard to provide collectors and consumers the best finds and pricing." We're teaming.with the companies we work with to bring in more limited-edition and special collection fountain pens but doing so in a way that makes those treasures available to you at the best price those companies will allow. You won't have to ask for a discount because it is already there through our web store.
The same thinking has been applied to the majority of our pen inventory. Of course, there are some items we're not allowed to discount, but now when you look at the Flax website, you'll see that the prices have been adjusted to compete with others. We'd love to hold our prices given that we're struggling to survive, but we're hoping you'll support the "store you know" by shopping with us. Also, if you subscribe to our Instagram account, that's where you'll find the latest announcements - oftentimes made before we can get a product photo or information onto our website.
Please tell your friends, family and others - and remember that we offer a variety of services - we're much more than a pen store!
We are Wesley and Jean-Luc, the Whippet mascots for Flax Pen To Paper. Did you know that brick and mortar retailers are struggling? We are well cared-for but don't see as many people in the store and worry that our biscuit supply is dwindling. Did you know we're discounting the fine writing instruments on our website and setting up for price-matching? Some limitations apply but we need your support to cover increased biscuit costs. Please help! New policies will go into effect on September 1.
